Background

In 1981, the mission of OVS (formerly the Crime Victims Board) was expanded to include the grant funding of community based organizations, both municipal and not-for-profit, to address the immediate needs of victims of crime. In 1984, the OVS began to receive federal funds pursuant to the federal Victims of Crime Act of 1984, in order to sustain and expand program services.

In partnership with a network of dedicated service providers, OVS has made great strides in making quality services available to crime victims throughout the State of New York. Today there are 189 funded programs.  To view the OVS funded programs click here to Locate a Program Near You.

Login Area

This section will provide VAPs information including Advocate Guides, any Broadcast email issued by OVS and a list of active Coalitions across the state. This section also provides VAPs the ability to login to access the OVS Grants Unit Contacts, a training calendar and a VAP AdvocateForum. The calendar will allow VAPs to propose any training or events in their area. After OVS has approved the training, it will be posted on the calendar. Also available in this area are blank programmatic and fiscal report forms. The AdvocateForum can be used as an aid for VAPs to post relevant questions and then allow other VAPs to input their experience on a subject matter.
