Original Awards by Age and Gender

Of the 11,266 victims for whom an original decision was awarded, the largest portion were persons between the ages of 18-29 (3,681 claims or 33%); this was true for both men (1,753 claims or 34%) and women (1,921 claims or 32%) also from this same age range.

Female victims accounted for 54% and male victims were 46% of all the original decisions awarded.  Female victims had more original award decisions among all age groups, except for 13-17 yr. and 45-59 yr. age groups.
